ARE YOUR ROOTS BURIED IN BRANT COUNTY??

LET US HELP YOU DIG!!

Land Acknowledgement

The Brant Branch of Ontario Ancestors would like to acknowledge that our meeting place, Smokey Hollow Estates in Brant County, is on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississauga, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Haudenosaunee, Attiwonderonk (Neutral), Anishinaabe, and Anishinabewaki peoples. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is located on the Haldimand Tract. We are grateful for the opportunity to work on this land.

Brant County Branch OGS is not just about Brant County!

In addition to Brant, our library collection also holds a great deal of research material relating to Haldimand and Norfolk Counties, including books (more than 400), family histories (nearly 200), and newspaper articles by historical columnists from Haldimand and Norfolk Counties.

Collected over many years or generously donated to our Branch by members, this information can be accessed through finding aids which are available on our website brant.ogs.on.ca using the Name Index, Resource Holdings Collection (library catalogue), and the Subject Master Index (under Resource Resources). Our library also holds a collection of many of the Haldimand County land record books in hard-copy format.

Contact us for more information at [email protected].

We have added the Haldimand Land Registers to our Library Collection for your viewing, come and see us!

Our Research Centre is open on Tuesdays from 10 am to 2 pm depending on volunteer availability.

To ensure that a researcher will be available to assist, visitors should make an appointment by contacting [email protected].
