Our Branch

Our Resource Centre

Members have access to our wifi, computers and a large catalogued collection of hardcopy materials.  Our collection includes Brantford City Directories, Family Histories, Tweedsmuir Histories, UEL books, Six Nations and Indigenous topics, school yearbooks, materials covering surrounding counties: Niagara, Oxford, Norfolk, Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Waterloo, Wellington, and genealogical reference books.

Before planning your research trip, you may wish to check our On-line Name Index Database which contains 800,000+ entries of much of the collection, including local history books, church registers, cemetery transcriptions, scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, including births and obituaries since the 1960s and marriages and family announcements since 1990s, baptisms, Flashbacks and regular columns by local historians.

Preserving Our History

Our objective is to promote the collection and preservation of historical data and records of interest primarily focusing on Brantford, Brant County and surrounding areas.

The late Opal Howey was a lifelong dedicated genealogist who left us a large part of her collection composed of reference books, notes and letters on Family History and valuable archival land records and wills that she collected.

Publications, maps, books and other materials are available in a variety of formats to suit your needs.
